Minister Dao Ngoc Dung receives Ambassador - Head of EU Delegation

(LĐXH)- On the afternoon of June 8, 2020, Minister of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs (MoLISA) Dao Ngoc Dung received Mr. Pier Giorgio Aliberti, Ambassador - Head of the Delegation of the European Union (EU) in Vietnam.
The Ambassador Giorgio Aliberti appreciated the significance and importance of the Vietnamese National Assembly's vote to ratify the EU-Vietnam Free Trade Agreement  (EVFTA), EU - Vietnam Investment Protection Agreement (EVIPA) and also Convention 105 on Abolition of Forced Labour.
He said that the ratification of ILO Convention 105 at this session and Convention 98 on the right to collective bargaining at the June 2019 of the Vietnam National Assembly has shown Vietnam's ongoing and persistent efforts towards ratifying the ILO's basic conventions. This is one of the important commitments under the EVFTA Agreement.
Welcome the Ambassador - Head of the EU Delegation to visit the MoLISA, Minister Dao Ngoc Dung highly appreciated the cooperation of the EU Delegation and the MoLISA over the past time, especially in coordination to prepare for the EU Parliament to ratify the EVFTA and EVIPA Agreement in February 2019.
The Minister reiterated the importance of Chapter 13 on Trade and Sustainable Development in the EVFTA Agreement, in which, Vietnam and the EU committed to promoting trade while ensuring social security, ensuring the legitimate rights and interests of workers in the spirit of the ILO Conventions that Vietnam as well as all EU countries are members.
 “The MoLISA in coordination with the concerned Ministries and branches are urgently building a draft to submit to the competent authorities for promulgation of 22 documents guiding the implementation of the Labor Code”, he added.
Minister Dao Ngoc Dung and Ambassador Giorgio Aliberti agreed that the MoLISA and the EU Delegation will continue to promote cooperation in the fields of labor, employment and human resource development to meet the increasing demands of Vietnamese enterprises as well as foreign enterprises investing in Vietnam, including ones from the EU.
This is one of the important links to improve the efficiency of trade and investment under the EVFTA and EVIPA Agreements./.
