Minister Dao Ngoc Dung had a meeting with the Ambassador of the United States in Vietnam

(LDXH) In September 13th in Hanoi, Minister of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs Dao Ngoc Dung had a meeting with Mr. Daniel J. Kritenbrink, Ambassador of the United States of America in Vietnam, on matters related to the Labor Code (Revision).
Mr. Daniel J. Kritenbrink affirmed that the relationship between Vietnam and the United States is getting better and better with close bilateral cooperation. The two countries have developed relations in all fields, including economic, trade, security and defense, climate change, especially in labor, employment and social security.

The Ambassador highly appreciated the cooperation with the Ministry of Labor - Invalids and Social Affairs (MOLISA) for many years. At the same time, he congratulated the Ministry for the process of revising the Labor Code as an important step and looked forward to closer relations between the two sides. He also emphasized: “Revising the Labor Code is really a step forward of MOLISA. It helps Vietnam to develop sustainably and reform in the field of labor, especially contributing to strengthening Vietnam-US relations. Currently there are about 23,000 Vietnamese students studying in the United States. We expect this number to increase in the future and hope that when they return, they will contribute to the development of the country. The more Vietnam develops, the more it will integrate deeply into the world ”.
Overview of the meeting
Following the Ambassador, Minister Dao Ngoc Dung also affirmed that the two countries' relations are increasingly comprehensive, effective, including the fields of the Ministry of Labor - Invalids and Social Affairs. He highly appreciated the United States for creating favorable conditions for Vietnamese students, students and workers to study and work there, supporting the framework of the Labor legislation, especially on the bilateral dialogue mechanism, including many social security programs and projects, and related issues to human resources and sustainable development.
“We are on process to finalize the revised Labor Code on the basis of ensuring harmony, stability and  approaching the general trend of world standards. We have received over 42,000 comments from international organizations, businesses, investors, as well as the people. The Labor Code has received deep attention from the society ”- the Minister shared. If the Labor Code is passed by he National Assembly in October 2019, it will mark a long step in Vietnam's labor history in particular and in the development of laws in general. The objective is to develop a Labor  Code for workers which ensures a synchronized, harmonious development without interference.
