On January 11^th, Deputy Minister of Labor - Invalids and Social Affairs Le Quan had a meeting with the Association of Technical Training Schools in Japan, on the occasion of their working trip at some vocational schools in Vietnam to introduce the KOSEN-Japan training model to the General Department of Vocational Education (under the Ministry of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs).

Introducing to the Deputy Minister on this model, Mr. Hayashida Takayuki (Project Senior Advisor, JICA) said that the KOSEN model had been applied by Japan since the 1960s. The KOSEN model is to train high - quality human resources to meet the needs of businesses and ensure 100% graduates have jobs.

Another outstanding feature of the KOSEN is that the training is not only theoretical, but also the practical skills and creative through real activities and researches; highly qualified trainers and good training facilities; high quality training with small group model ... The application of training under the KOSEN model effectively will solve the demand for human resources with practical skills and creative ability for businesses.

Recognizing the advantages of the KOSEN model, the Department of Human Resources Development - Ministry of Industry and Trade cooperated with JICA (Japan) to train KOSEN model in some schools under the Ministry such as Cao Thang College, Hue Industrial College ...

Appreciating the KOSEN model, Deputy Minister Le Quan affirmed that this was a model that separated the training of students from junior high schools, in combination with effective training of high quality human resources for businesses. The Government of Vietnam always expects the Ministry of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs to pilot the education model in combination with training high quality human resources to serve the industrialization and modernization of the country. He hoped that the KOSEN model could be piloted and replicated in the system of universities, colleges and secondary schools managed by the Ministry.

Deputy Minister Le Quan emphasized that enterprises now had high demand for labor with basic skills. These skills need to be trained at schools, in addition to strong professional knowledge so that graduates can meet the requirements of the enterprises. The KOSEN model which has been applied at some schools in Vietnam showed that students have the opportunity to develop creative thinking and more active in learning. They can integrate quickly after graduation.

He suggested that Japan would continue to support schools in Vietnam and assigned the General Department of Vocational Education along with the Japanese project to research, cooperate and deploy in depth KOSEN model at affiliated educational institutions. Moreover, He also agreed with the Japanese side on the policy of setting up representative offices in Vietnam and organizing seminars this year, thus enabling conditions for signing and cooperating sustainably.
