Deputy Minister Dao Hong Lan welcomed Vietnam delegation back from the 11th ASEAN Skills Competition 2016

(LĐXH) After days of fierce competition, in the afternoon of September 29th 2016, at Noi Bai International Airport, the General Department of Vocational Training (Ministry of Labours- Invalids and Social Affairs) held a ceremony to welcome Vietnam delegation back from the 11th ASEAN Skills Competition in Kuala Lumpur capital, Malaysia. Deputy Minister of MOLISA Dao Hong Lan led the ceremony to congratulate the delegation on their success this time.
Joining this ceremony, there were leaders of Departments, Offices from the General Department of Vocational Training, the representatives of sponsors and schools which have contestants in the competition.
On behalf of the Vietnam delegation, Assoc.Prof. Cao Van Sam, Deputy General Director of the General Department of Vocational Training, leader of Vietnam Team reported the competition results briefly  to Deputy Minister Dao Hong Lan. Accordingly, the 11th ASEAN Skills Competition in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia lasted from 24th to 26th September 2016, with the attendance of 280 candidates from 9 countries in ASEAN group (Brunei excluded). They competed each other  in 25 professions which included 23 official professions and 2 performance ones.

Vietnam delegation entered the 11th ASEAN Skills Competition with 44 contestants in 22 official professions. As the result, the delegation ranked at the 3rd place, after Malaysia and Indonesia (target achieved):
_ 10 Golden Medals (3 medals in Teamwork ), specifically in the category: CNC machines Maintenance; Mechatronics: Electronics; Mechanical engineering design - CAD; Brick: Industrial Automation. Which category: CNC machines Maintenance; Mechatronics; Industrial automation contest in teams (2 students per team) and the profession: Electronics; CAD; Brick individual competition (especially 2 contestants in Brick competition were awarded gold medal).
- 5 silver medals (including one silver medal contest in teams) in professions: Cooking; Installation of water pipes; Installation of cable communication networks; Software solutions in information technology; Mobile robots. Vietnam delegation attended mobile robotics contest in teams.
- 4 Bronze in professions: Cooking; Electrical installation in Automotive Technology; Software solutions in information technology and 10 certificates in Outstanding vocational skills.
Assoc.Prof. Cao Van Sam said that Vietnam officially joined ASEAN Skills Competition in 2001, but this is the first time the delegation reached this number of medals. In the contest, high-tech industrial group with international level (2 gold medals in CNC machines Maintenance, 2 Gold medals in College Mechatronics, 1 Gold Medal in Electronics Profession, 1 Gold Medal in Electronic Engineering, 1 Gold Medal in Vocational Technical Design Engineering-CAD) asserted top position of Vietnam on medals number. It means that the high-tech industrial groups is increasingly being invested effectively.

On behalf of the leaders of the MOLISA, Deputy Minister Dao Hong Lan congratulated Vietnam delegation on their achievement in the 11th ASEAN Skills Competition, which completed expected targets and increased the union between candidates and professionals.
She also stressed that Vietnam can proud about labour skills compared to other countries in ASEAN region due to result of this competition. It promotes economic growth and accelerate the industrialization and modernization of the country for further sustainable development. Deputy Minister wished them contestants continue to develop their skills, not only to win awards in the region but also make great contribution to the country in the near future.
