Deputy Minister Dao Hong Lan welcomed the delegation of people with meritorious service from Kon Tum province

(LĐXH) On April 13th, at the headquarters of the Ministry of Labour-Invalids and Social Affairs (MOLISA), Deputy Minister Dao Hong Lan met the delegation of people with meritorious service from Kon Tum province who had come to visit Ha Noi and Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum. Attending the meeting was Mr. Nguyen Duy Kien, the Deputy Director General of the Department of People with meritorious services.

Reported to leaders of the Ministry on the implementation of preferential policies for people with meritorious services, Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Anh, the Deputy Director of  Department of  Labour-Invalids and Social Affairs of Kon Tum province, leader of the delegation said that: currently, the province has managed over 37,000 people with meritorious services, 122 of whom were Vietnamese Heroes (06 survived); Hero of Armed Forces: 04; Resistance soldiers captured by the enemy or imprisoned: 143; War invalids: 1.156; Diseased soldiers: 1,842; Martyrs: 2.871; People with meritorious services to the revolution: 920; Participants in the revolutions and their offspring  infected by toxic chemicals: 963...
The overview of the meeting
Besides ensuring regular payments, Kon Tum province has implemented many other supportive policies for people with meritorious services such as purchasing health insurance for 100% subjects in policies as prescribed; mobilizing “Gratitude” Fund to build and repair “gratitude” houses; giving passbooks to serious war invalids and parents of martyrs. Recently, 6 Vietnam Heroic Mothers are still alive, 4 of them are taken after by provincial authority. They received a monthly allowance of 200,000 VND to 500,000 VND per month.

Implementing Decision No.22 / 2013 / QD-TTg dated 26/4/2013 of the Prime Minister on supporting house for people with meritorious services, the government helped Kon Tum province to build 37 and repair 197 houses with the budget of over 5 billions VND. In 2016, in order to solve the difficulties of poor families, Provincial People’s Committee decided to used money from “Gratitude” Fund to build and repair 47 houses with cost of 1,5 billions VND. Lottery company and Vietnam Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development of Kon Tum province supported the construction of 04 gratitude houses for people with meritorious services, each of them costed 50 millions VND. Annually, the province also used budget to buy gifts for subjects in policies in occasions of Tet holiday,...

Looking forward to the 70th anniversary of  War invalids and martyrs day, Kon Tum province has developed plans activities to commemorate this anniversary under the direction of the Government. After kindly inquiring health of people from Kon Tum delegation of people with meritorious services, Deputy Minister Dao Hong Lan expressed deep gratitude to Vietnam Heroic Mothers, wounded soldiers and their family members. She also  highly appreciated the attention of the committees, authorities and people for the care of material and spiritual life of people with meritorious services in Kon Tum province.
2017 is a special year with the 70th anniversary of  War invalids and martyrs day, therefore, MOLISA has advised the government to develop a plan to celebrate in national scale with many activities which are grateful to individuals and families who fought and sacrificed for the home country. In particular, the province will focus on backlog of records, support families of people with meritorious service to build houses, gather nameless martyrs’ bone and define their identity.
